Brother HL-1440 and USB Laser Printers and Airport Firmware 5.5 and 6.1It is looking like that Airport Firmware 5.5 for the AEBS and 6.1 for the AX have stopped the Brother HL-1440 (and some other USB Laser Printers) from working correctly through the USB port of the AEBS or AX. If AirPort Admin Utility no longer recognizes your laser printer connected
via USB to your AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme after updating the
firmware with the latest release, you can download and install the previous
version. Downgrading the AEBS to 5.4 or upgrading to 5.5.1 cures the problem. Download the firmware here. Downgrading the AX or upgrading to 6.1.1 cures the problem. Download the firmware here. Instructions:
The IP solution from Brother here does not work either. The recommendation is to downgrade the AEBS firmware, or not to upgrade the firmware. |
