Differences in Image Files

Original Digital Camera File - click here - 484Kb - would take 77 seconds to download on an 56K Modem. It is also too big to fit into the browser window (if you are viewing this on Internet Explorer 6 then it may possibly resize the image for you.

The following text and pictures show you what you would get if you used an image manipulation programme (I used Fireworks MX) to resize the image and compress the image.

File at reduced size 640 x 480 and 20% Compression - 65Kb - would take 10 seconds

File at reduced size 640 x 480 and 40% Compression - 27Kb - would take 4 seconds

File at reduced size 640 x 480 and 60% Compression - 17Kb - would take 2 seconds

File at reduced size 640 x 480 and 80% Compression - 6Kb - would take less than a second

Of course the problem with the last two images is that the quality has suffered considerably.
